The radiology professionals at Elkview General Hospital utilize an array of different imaging technologies and techniques. This allows us to provide our patients with diagnosis and treatment for a variety of different injuries and diseases. Some of our radiology services include the latest technology for MRI, computed tomography (CT), mammography, ultrasound services, nuclear medicine, and general X-Ray. We pride ourselves with being fully accredited by the American College of Radiology.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Elkview General Hospital utilizes the Toshiba Vantage 1.5 Tesla MRI machine. Designed to offer patients great comfort while obtaining the highest quality imaging, it is ideal for patients and doctors alike. As such, Elkview General Hospital offers a wide variety of MRI exams including the latest state-of-the-art imaging techniques- including brain and cardiac imaging, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), as well as advanced chest and abdominal applications.
The Toshiba Aquilion CT at Elkview General Hospital is one of the fastest, most powerful CT scanners available. Using Toshiba’s proprietary coneXact algorithm, XR 29 with Double Slice Technology can reconstruct 128 images every rotation of the gantry, enabling volume reconstruction in double density, improving 3-D and MPR resolution. This scanner gives physicians the ability to detect diseases early, when they can be most effectively treated. With early diagnosis, many patients are able to receive less invasive treatments with better outcomes than are possible with later diagnosis.
- Dose Management – In accordance with The National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA), Elkview General Hospital is proud to utilize MITA Smart Dose, a standard that helps our providers optimize and manage dosages in CT scanning while reducing radiation exposure by up to 60%. Elkview General Hospital’s CT scanner is compliant with NEMA XR29-2013 standards on CT equipment related to dose optimization and management.
Elkview General Hospital offers digital mammography for patients looking for quicker mammography results. With the advent of digital photography patients spend less time in the breast imaging suite and are able to receive their imaging results more quickly while also allowing their radiologist the ability to digitally manipulate the imagery on screen, offering a more in-depth and thorough examination.
Our Mammography technicians have over 25 years of combined experience and are all licensed with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
